Good lord, it's a quarter to midnight and I still haven't written this blasted thing. I've been buried in work all day and only just came up for air. The good news is I did fifty five push ups this morning, and my arm still feels fine. Alternating days seems to be making a difference. For now at least I will keep on that track, and see how it goes.

As for Doctor Who, it was a mighty good one today. So let's talk about that.

You looked inside me and you saw hatred. That's not victory. Victory would have been a good Dalek.

Today was my first "twofer". Because I have a two-week business trip planned in August, and I very much want to complete this ridiculous project before I go party in Vegas for two weeks, I needed to pick up two extra days to put me on target for completing on August 6th. So this morning I put in a full 99 minutes on the treadmill and watched two episodes back-to-back. That's the first time I have ever done that (not counting the whole classic era where the episodes were only 24-25 minutes apiece.)

So let's talk about a good one and a bad one.

Mixed news on my floppy right arm today. On the positive side, I did do 50 push-ups, and it did feel stronger than the last time I attempted them a week ago. On the negative side, it still feels weak - stronger than it was, but weaker than I would like. Where my left arm feels properly seated, my right arm feels like a ball joint with a broken nylon bushing, where the joint is just not stable at all. That being the case, I am going to keep off of it for a while yet to let it continue to heal. If I haven't seen any real improvement by next weekend, then I suppose the next step is to see a specialist and get it x-rayed.

In other news, there was a new Doctor today and he was very grumpy and cross. So let's talk about that.

I Will Always Remember When the Doctor Was Me

I Will Always Remember When the Doctor Was Me

Today's viewing marks the eight hundredth episode of Doctor Who to be aired, as well as the end of the Eleventh Doctor era. Holy cow, I only have one Doctor left before I am done with this ridiculous project. In other news, my floppy right arm isn't nearly as floppy as it was. It feels like it is about 90% back up to speed. Tomorrow I will try easing back into some strength training to see what happens. I think I might double up on episodes tomorrow as well, since I have no rehearsal or other time commitment. I need to pick up two days if I want to finish on schedule (and I do want to finish on schedule.)

So let's talk about the End of Eleven before I move on to Twelve.

Fifty Years in Four Hundred and Ninety Four Days

Fifty Years in Four Hundred and Ninety Four Days

When I started this ridiculous project on February 20th of last year, I deliberately didn't calculate how long it would take. I guessed a little over a year, and it turns out to be more like a year and a half. Today, though, I hit a huge milestone. Today I watched the 50th Anniversary special, meaning that as of this morning I have watched a full fifty years of Doctor Who in four hundred and ninety four days. Wow. With only one Eleventh Doctor story left, I only have the Twelfth Doctor era left to go through. I just double-checked my count, and I must have missed something the last time I worked it out. I need to finish by Monday, August 6th because I have a work trip that begins on the 7th and I want to have a clean break. But I just counted it out,and if I miss no days and watch one episode per day I won't finish until August 8th. That means I have to double up on at least two days. It looks like Under the Lake / Before the Flood would be a good double fallin ...

When Someone Asks You If You Want To Be Queen of the Universe, You Say Yes

Good news: my floppy right arm is less floppy today. It's still not back to full strength, and I am still avoiding any heavy lifting with it, but it is definitely improving. I see both my primary doctor and the chiropractor tomorrow, so hopefully that will go well. My intention is to avoid push ups for the remainder of the week, and then ease back into it if things continue to improve. Which means I will be starting back up with it just as I am starting up with the last Doctor in this ridiculous project. How cool is that?

But Eleven still has a bit more life left in him, so let's talk about that.

I saw a chiropractor today related to my floppy right arm, and it seems to have helped. I see them again on Wednesday, along with my primary doctor. I am deliberately holding off on any more strength training for several more days to give it all time to settle. But hopefully by this time next week I will be back on top of things. So that's nice.

As for Doctor Who, today's episode would have fit very comfortably in the Holmes/Hinchcliffe era of the show, which is pretty cool. So let's talk about that.

Kira is Kitty, and They're Both Clio

Kira is Kitty, and They're Both Clio

In the theatrical production I am currently in, the plot revolves around the Greek muse Clio who had previously disguised herself as a southern belle named Kitty, and is now disguising herself as an Australian named Kira. There is a moment where my character talks about all three in one sentence. I thought of that moment during today's episode of Doctor Who when the Doctor finally explains to Clara that he had already met her twice previously in different eras.

So let's talk about that.
