I gotta tell ya, I don't remember disliking Torchwood so much when it first aired. I dearly hope that my memory of it getting better is true, because otherwise... ugh.

Day One

Did I mention yesterday about how this is the first Whoniverse series targeted to adults? Because, hoo boy this one swings for the adult fences. The basic plot synopsis is that an alien entity lands on Earth, and instead of coming to invade it has come to... come. Dirty club bathroom sex. Nasty the-postman-always-rings-twice sex. Girl on girl action. At least a half dozen men giving "donations" at the local sperm bank. It's just sexy sexy sexy time all around, while Gwen Cooper spends her first day on the job at Torchwood trying to save the young woman who has been possessed by the sexy sexy alien.

It's all very tawdry, none of it makes any of the characters look good, and it is just generally fifty minutes of dear-god-when-will-this-end. All written by Chris Chibnall, the new Doctor Who show runner. If this was all I knew him from, instead of Broadchurch, I would be very concerned right now.

Dear lord I hope tomorrow's episode is better. I remember absolutely nothing about it.
