One fat geek's SUCCESSFUL attempt to regenerate into a not-so-fat geek by watching the entirety of Doctor Who while walking on a treadmill

You might have been in a nutty environment

Well, that's it. The last of The Sarah Jane Adventures this morning. I definitely teared up a little bit.

The Man Who Never Was - Parts 1 & 2

(TARDIS Data Core recap)

Being only the mid-point of the planned season, this was by no means intended to be a series finale. Unfortunately, this was the last story that was filmed before Elisabeth Sladen took ill so this is what we get. It is not a bad story by any means, it's just a bit of a trifle. A computer hardware company is about to launch a highly-anticipated laptop device called the Serfboard, and something strange is up with the company's reclusive founder. He turns out to be a hologram powered by alien technology, and comically animated by a group of BascallyJawas down in the bowels of corporate headquarters. The kind of nice swerve is that it turns out not to be any kind of alien invasion, it's just a rich dude using black market alien WhateverTechnology in order to sell a boatload of crappy computers in order to make a huge profit. In other words, just a typical Monday morning in America, only played out in England instead.

Also, the BasicallyJawas turn out to be slaves instead of bad guys. They are rescued at the end of the story, and the evil rich dude accidentally gets swept up in the rescue and presumably becomes a slave as his comeuppance.

Also also, Clyde and Rani get the joint nickname Clani, which fully cements the notion of them as a romantic couple. So that's totally a thing.

Once the story itself is resolved, a retrospective is tacked onto the end with a series of clips from the entire run of the series as Sarah Jane repeats her opening narration from the very first episode. It was beautifully done, and a perfect way to say goodbye. I definitely got a bit weepy at that bit.

I can't quite bring myself go straight into K9, so I am going to spend the next three days watching the reconstruction of Shada. I am really looking forward to it, I have actually never watched it in any form so it will be pretty much all new to me.
