One fat geek's SUCCESSFUL attempt to regenerate into a not-so-fat geek by watching the entirety of Doctor Who while walking on a treadmill

I Walked, Didn't I?

I Walked, Didn't I?

So, I'm an idiot. I hobbled myself on the treadmill today, for no good reason. A few days ago I wore a blister on the back of my left heel. This morning it was really hurting when I started on the treadmill, despite readjusting my socks and shoes and adding a moleskin patch. So of course I did the sensible thing, and stopped my workout.

Ha! Just kidding.

I took off my shoes so they would stop rubbing the blister, and kept walking. 45 minutes later I realized that I had given myself a pair of blisters on the balls of both feet. So now I have patched both feet, and my intention is to stay off the treadmill for at least several days. Because I am an idiot. Don't be like me.

I also watched the end of Sapphire & Steel today, and wow I did not see that coming...

Sapphire & Steel: Assignment 6 a.k.a. The Trap, Episodes 3 & 4

At the beginning of the third episode a new person arrives at the time-stuck gas station, this time a raggedy traveling entertainer. When asked how he got there, he just keeps saying, "I walked, didn't I?!?" As the weirdness continues to build, the penultimate cliffhanger has Sapphire, Silver, and Steel realizing that they are actually dealing with beings similar to themselves, sent by a higher power to kill them all. Oops. Which then leads to a running confrontation in the final episode with many twists and turns, culminating in Sapphire & Steel finding themselves imprisoned in a replica of the diner except it is floating in a timeless void. They are, presumably, trapped forever. Double oops.

I gather the writer had plans for future adventures and was fully prepared to rescue them from their predicament in the next series of episodes, but for whatever reason that series never happened. There were some audio adventures done by Big Finish a little over ten years ago, but that's it. For the rest of eternity I will associate Sapphire & Steel with painful blisters and eternal imprisonment.

So what happens next? Well, I have big plans. I will be starting a second lap on the Time Treadmill very soon, but with a slightly different approach. I am working on the creative pieces right now, I am not 100% sure when the next phase of this ridiculous project will begin. At a guess I would say sometime next week. In the meantime I will be finding ways to work out each day that do not aggravate my feet while they heal. I am pretty sure I can do the elliptical, since the soles of my feet never have to actually move for that. We shall see. I doubt I will do daily blogs, but I will keep tracking things. Stay tuned.
