One fat geek's SUCCESSFUL attempt to regenerate into a not-so-fat geek by watching the entirety of Doctor Who while walking on a treadmill

What's the matter? Did I bleed on the wrong bit of floor?

What's the matter? Did I bleed on the wrong bit of floor?

Huge victory today, on two fronts. First of all, my weight trend finally flipped back in the right direction again. It remains frustrating, but at least it is getting better and not worse. I'll take what I can get. More importantly, today I upped the push-ups to 75. I expected to struggle with it, but I actually managed to complete the five sets without breaking form on my first day at this level. That means that on Tuesday I will jump to 80. I will be back up to a hundred, I think, by August. How cool is that.

Also, today I watched what was easily the best episode of Blake's 7 I have seen to date...

Rumours of Death

(Blake's 7 Wiki Recap)

It will come as no surprise that the episode I consider best so far is also an episode that is centered around Avon. The story opens with him having been in a Federation detention center for five days, and the arrival of a notorious interrogator. Except, of course, the whole thing turns out to be a ruse in order to capture said interrogator, whom Avon believes has information about the death of the only woman he has ever loved.

Meanwhile, as Servalan sets up her new Presidential palace, a revolution is brewing. The wife of a respected councilman turns out to be a rebel, and she sets in motion a plan to get armed troops inside the palace to depose Servalan.

The story, then, cuts back and forth between Avon's quest to find out what happened to his lost love and to make her murderer pay, and the the palace intrigue as the rebels close in on Servalan. In fact, she winds up chained to a wall in the basement and very nearly loses everything.

Except, in a heartbreaking final twist, it turns out that the rebel leader is, in fact, Avon's lost love, who had actually been running him for information back in the Day. Ultimately Avon is forced to kill her in self defense, and to also free Servalan. It is a heartbreaking scene, and actor Paul Darrow absolutely shines in his performance. Honestly, for me, the series could end right here and I would be good with that.

Which only makes me worry about what is coming tomorrow.
