One fat geek's SUCCESSFUL attempt to regenerate into a not-so-fat geek by watching the entirety of Doctor Who while walking on a treadmill

Radioactive Astronaut Zombies

Radioactive Astronaut Zombies

After my huge weight loss last week, I am now in serious bounce-back territory and that's frustrating. So I just continue to plug away and do my thing, one foot in front of the other, and remind myself that daily numbers make me insane. It doesn't help that the current story is most certainly sagging in the middle. How many times can Liz Shaw be kidnapped in one episode? She managed it twice in under 25 minutes today. Good lord, I still have two more days on Ambassadors of Death, and I might just break down and start drinking while I am on the treadmill before this is over.

Let's talk about that.

The Ambassadors of Death - Episodes 3 & 4

(TARDIS Data Core recap)

Honestly I don't even know what to say about this story, plot-wise. Halfway through the fourth episode my mind kind of wandered away for a while.  They open up the space capsule, but it is empty aside from a tape machine automatically replying to signals. We find out that at least some of the conspiracy involves one part of the military acting without telling UNIT or the other parts of the military. The three astronauts (or at least the three humanoid figures wearing astronaut suits who may or may not be the actual astronauts from the Mars mission and subsequent rescue mission) are being held in one secret location, but that is raided by yet another conspiracy faction and they are taken to another location. Liz Shaw gets kidnapped, taken to that location, escapes, is captured again, and is back trapped in the secret research station. Apparently the astronauts feed off of radiation, and they respond to signals from a handheld device. Oh, and there is a triple-cross involving a bomb in a briefcase that totally fails to kill the Doctor but takes out one of the conspiracy members. Did I miss anything? Either none of it makes sense, or else it is so complicated that I am not following the plot threads. I am really missing monsters in rubber suits right now.

Two more episodes tomorrow, another one on Thursday, and then I can move on to Inferno which promises to be much better.
