Mentalis Strikes

As usual lately, it's late and I want to get to bed but I need to get this done before I can sleep. So this is gonna be mighty brief. I completed my workout, including another ninety second plank (barely). I don't know how in the world I am going to last for two full minutes before the week is out, but that is the goal. We shall see. I also bumped up my treadmill speed again to 4.9 MPH, but I could only keep the pace for the first half of the run. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

As for Doctor Who, I watched the middle third of the current story. So let's talk about that.

The Armageddon Factor - Parts 3 & 4

My suspicion yesterday that Zeos doesn't really exist proved to be technically wrong, but thematically true. The planet still exists, but the people are all long gone. In their place is a single military computer named Mentalis that has been coldly and relentlessly prosecuting the war against Atrios. There is also a third force lurking in the background, masterminded by a mysterious entity that calls itself the Shadow. Perhaps the Black Guardian or an agent thereof? At this point we don't know.

By the climax of the fourth episode Mentalis has been destroyed, but not before kicking off an auto-destruct option that will destroy both Zeos and Atrios in the event of an attack. Of course, just such an attack is immanent as the Atrios military leader is bent on launching an all-out nuclear assault on Zeos. The Doctor and Romana use the available segments of the Key to Time to create a localized time loop that is preventing Armageddon, but the loop is slowly expanding as the makeshift fake sixth segment to the Key burns out. Oh, and the Shadow has captured K9 and reprogrammed him. Oh no!

Tomorrow is the big finish. The end of this story, the end of the entire Key to Time saga, the end of the season, and the end of the first Romana. Kind of a big day. Hopefully I will get a good night's sleep, and be able to hit the treadmill first thing. Otherwise, tomorrow is going to be another mighty long day.
