One fat geek's SUCCESSFUL attempt to regenerate into a not-so-fat geek by watching the entirety of Doctor Who while walking on a treadmill

The Struggle Is Real

The Struggle Is Real

I gotta say, having finished Phase One of this ridiculous project and being well over a year-and-a-half into it, I am definitely battling against gaining weight back. Which, on one level this has never been specifically about weight, but it remains a good gross indicator. For the first six months it was a pretty steady progression, from nearly 310 lbs down to about 260 lbs. From there it became more difficult to keep the momentum, but I still got down to nearly 240 lbs. Then, as you can see from looking at the graph on the sidebar (which I keep there and public in order to keep myself honest and motivated), I started moving back in the other direction. Some of that, I tell myself, came from putting on muscle mass when I started adding push-ups to my routine. This past six months I have floated back and forth between a little over 240 and a little over 250. Don't get me wrong, I am proud of what I have accomplished, there is a non-trivial part of me that is vain enough to say I really want to break that 240 barrier. I am also vain enough to say that, for some reason, I really want to get down to a 38" waist (I started at 46 or even 48, and I am currently down to 40). So how am I going to get there?

Genesis of the Daleks - Part 3 & 4

(TARDIS Data Core recap)

(My Previous Watch)

Blah Blah Blah, Trump Davros contrives first to slaughter his own people by colluding with the Russians Thals in order to prevent an investigation into his misdeeds, then he turns loose the newly-born Daleks to slaughter the Thals. By the end of these two episodes the Doctor has been captured along with Sarah Jane and Harry, and Davros understand that the Doctor is a time traveler and is thus interrogating him in order to discover how to make the Daleks even more lethal. Oops.

I'll finish Genesis tomorrow, and then knock out the BluRay re-watch of Revenge of the Cybermen on Wednesday and Thursday. At which point I will begin Phase Two of this ridiculous project: Torchwood (tag line: "It gets better after Cyberwoman..."). I have slacked off in the past month since finishing Phase One, but now it is time to knuckle down and get back to business.

Besides, I have a show to do in November in which I will be dressed inappropriately, and I need to look my best. I've got 2 1/2 months to get swole.

If you are in Central Florida, please come see me.
