Ugh, day two of this stupid, stupid story. There's a chance that it's not as awful as I think it is, and that I am just in a cranky mood. But I'm pretty sure it's just no good. Apparently it was originally supposed to be a six-parter but was cut down to five at the script stage, and I can see why. I wish it had been cut down to zero parts. It wasn't though, so here I am slogging through it all for you, my imaginary readers.
Let's talk about that.
The Dominators - Episodes 3 & 4
(TARDIS Data Core recap)
So, the cliffhanger I forgot from yesterday was that Jamie and one of the locals were inside a building that was being destroyed by the Quarks with the building collapsing around them. In a shocking turn of events, it seems that there was actually a bomb shelter underneath the building into which the two escaped unharmed. Whew, I really thought Jamie was dead. (That sound you hear is my eyes rolling into the back of my head.)
Basically there are two bickering Dominators, one of whom is significantly more impulsive and bloodthirsty than the other. The planet is filled with pacifists whose leaders, when given the options of Fight-Run-Submit can't even choose and instead argue endlessly in a cabinet meeting. The five people on the formerly-radioactive island with the Dominators are all put to slave labor and worked to exhaustion, while Jamie throws rocks at the robot Quarks. There is a cliffhanger at the end of the third episode that I have already forgotten, and another cliffhanger at the end of the fourth episode that I have also forgotten.
The only ray of sunshine is that tomorrow I only have one 24-minute episode to watch, after which I can walk for another half hour without being tortured by this stupid, stupid story.
