Dead and Gan

Special credit to author Rik Hoskin for today's title. I lamented to him in email this morning that I had already had a title in mind before today's episode of Blake's 7 was over, but that went out the window with the final scene. I laughed out loud when he suggested this. It's good to have successful authors as friends!

Staying with you requires a degree of stupidity of which I no longer feel capable.

Oh. Hey. I almost forgot about this place. Seriously, I have spent the last three months in rehearsal for a show that opened this past weekend, and frankly the final week of rehearsals plus the opening weekend performances exhausted me to the point I just couldn't do any workouts at all. The good news is, after missing ten days of this ridiculous project I expected to have ballooned up, but I actually only went up three pounds. Which, that is a little disappointed given how much progress I had made recently, but honestly I was overjoyed that it wasn't worse. So that's cool.

Since I last posted, I have also watched three more episodes of Blake's 7 on the Time Treadmill, so let's get to it.

I have never understood why it should be necessary to become irrational in order to prove that you care - or indeed why it should be necessary to prove it at all.

Another quick one today. Tonight I have my very first ever sitzprobe, and I am all kinds of excited. It is not, as it might sound, an elective medical procedure. Rather it is a musical theatre thing where the singers and orchestra rehearse together for the first time in a show. Every musical I have done previously has been tracked, or at most had a piano accompaniment, this is the first show I have done with an actual orchestra. How cool is that? Anyway, I did watch Blake's 7 today on the Time Treadmill, so let me tell you all about it.

That's the trouble with heroics. They seldom run to schedule.

Here in the US it is Memorial Day today, so I would like to start off by taking a moment to honor the soldiers who have paid the ultimate price. I myself wore the uniform back in the late 80's, and through nothing more than pure luck I was never asked to serve in combat. I separated from the Army the same month that Iraq invaded Kuwait, and my unit went. I know that some of the men and women that I trained with at Fort Dix, Fort Eustice, and and in the 92nd Transportation Company ultimately served in the Iraq War, and I am equally certain that some of them never came home. I don't like to talk about politics here, and I am not about to start today. I will simply say that I did, in fact, take some time today to remember and honor those who have served.

But anyway, moving on to Blake's 7 and working out...

That's a comfort. I should hate to be eaten by something stupid.
