One fat geek's SUCCESSFUL attempt to regenerate into a not-so-fat geek by watching the entirety of Doctor Who while walking on a treadmill

For a Smart Kid, He's Dangerously Stupid

For a Smart Kid, He's Dangerously Stupid

So, I just finished installing a new hardwood floor in our guest room. This, after a 2pm performance of my show (the fifth performance in the last four days). My sister is arriving from Seattle on Tuesday, and I am racing to get the room ready for her. Tomorrow I will get the baseboard trim done and reassemble the room, so I think we are golden.I didn't get the closet done, but that can wait for another day. I also plan on installing a new floor in the master bedroom, but that ain't happening until after Christmas. Aside from that, I also hit the treadmill this morning and watched two more episodes of Doctor Who. You'll never guess which character annoyed me completely.

So let's talk about that.

Four to Doomsday - Parts 3 & 4

(TARDIS Data Core recap)

While the Doctor is off talking to the ancient Greek robot dude, Wesley Crusher Adric and Nyssa are having an audience with the Big Bad - a humanoid frog named Monarch. The toad-faced dictator explains to Adric how his race transcended flesh and blood bodies by converting themselves to digital consciousness on computer chips implanted in robot bodies, thus granting themselves immortality and freedom from the ravages of disease and other weaknesses of the flesh. He then goes on to describe how they are headed to Earth in order to liberate humanity from their terrible weak bodies, and to make them all a part of the glorious robotic future. Adric, being a credulous dick, completely buys into the idea. Nyssa, being an actual decent person, is horrified by the idea.

Meanwhile, when the Doctor and Tegan learn about Monarch's intentions, Tegan flips out and runs off to the TARDIS, pushes a bunch of buttons, and manages to dematerialize just enough to move the TARDIS outside the ship. Not quite what she was going for, but what can you do?

In the end, the Doctor punches Adric in the face and calls him a duplicitous moron convinces Adric that the Monarch is, in fact, a Bad Guy. There's a bunch of running around, the Doctor jumps to the TARDIS from an airlock, the robots are all freed, and Monarch is shrunk down to teeny-tiny size by means of frog venom. Because, of course.  Then  the Doctor promises Tegan that he will take her straight away to London Heathrow so she won't lose her job. We'll find out tomorrow how that turns out. (Hint: not well, and there's a giant magical snake involved.)

What can I say, I was not a fan of this story. Maybe with any other companion besides Adric it might have been a workable story, but c'mon.

And on that note, I am going to bed.
