Well, as the actress said to the bishop, “I'm not human and I don't care.” Sep 12 2019 9th Doctor Missed a day yesterday, sorry. Paid the price today, sincerely sorry. I don't have any motivational thoughts. Much like Quint and Hooper, I'm tired and I want to go to bed. So let's get this done. Read more ...
Fifty Years in Four Hundred and Ninety Four Days Jun 28 2018 10th Doctor 11th Doctor 12th Doctor 1st Doctor 2nd Doctor 3rd Doctor 4th Doctor 5th Doctor 6th Doctor 7th Doctor 8th Doctor 9th Doctor Clara Oswald Kate Stewart Petronella Osgood Rose Tyler War Doctor When I started this ridiculous project on February 20th of last year, I deliberately didn't calculate how long it would take. I guessed a little over a year, and it turns out to be more like a year and a half. Today, though, I hit a huge milestone. Today I watched the 50th Anniversary special, meaning that as of this morning I have watched a full fifty years of Doctor Who in four hundred and ninety four days. Wow. With only one Eleventh Doctor story left, I only have the Twelfth Doctor era left to go through. I just double-checked my count, and I must have missed something the last time I worked it out. I need to finish by Monday, August 6th because I have a work trip that begins on the 7th and I want to have a clean break. But I just counted it out,and if I miss no days and watch one episode per day I won't finish until August 8th. That means I have to double up on at least two days. It looks like Under the Lake / Before the Flood would be a good double fallin ... Read more ...
I Can See the Whole of Time and Space, Every Single Atom of Your Existence, and I Divide Them Mar 27 2018 10th Doctor 9th Doctor Jack Harkness Rose Tyler Today has been a lovely, lovely day. Work-wise I have a software release going out tomorrow, and by quitting time today I had effectively cleared out my bug list. Theatre-wise I got some very good casting news today, and it's something I'll probably be talking a lot about in a couple months. I spent more than a little time doing a happy dance around my home office. This evening my wife and I went out for a celebratory dinner, and had a delicious Indian meal. I am a very satisfied boy right now. Read more ...
The Running Man Redux Mar 26 2018 9th Doctor Jack Harkness Rose Tyler Exactly thirteen years ago today, on Saturday March 26th of 2005, Doctor Who returned to the BBC after a sixteen year absence. Happy birthday, NuWho! As for today's viewing, on a surface level it plows the same fields as the Sixth Doctor story Vengeance on Varos but updated for twenty-first century television. So let's talk about that. Read more ...
Farting Aliens (sigh), Part Three Mar 25 2018 9th Doctor Jack Harkness Mickey Smith Rose Tyler The inaugural season of the revived Doctor Who had just finished a remarkable run of five episodes, four of which were superior and the fifth of which was at least very good. In another week it would launch into the big two-part season finale. Sandwiched in between those remarkable sequences, however, apparently Russell T Davies thought to himself, "what this show really needs is another hour of flatulence." God help me, let's talk about it. Read more ...
Everybody Lives, Rose! Just This Once, Everybody Lives!! Mar 24 2018 9th Doctor Jack Harkness Rose Tyler I had a callback today for a show today. I think it went well, but I'm such a neophyte at this acting thing it's hard to really tell. But I saw several friends there from two other shows I have done, and many other familiar faces, so if nothing else it was a lot of fun. With any luck, this summer I will be back on stage again. If not, I will definitely be in the audience because it's going to be a fun show. Of course, I also watched Doctor Who this morning. It had my single favorite Ninth Doctor scene in it, so let's talk about that. Read more ...
Are You My Mummy? Mar 23 2018 9th Doctor Jack Harkness Rose Tyler Today has been a tremendously satisfying day. First of all, I managed to do sixty pushups today. A month ago I could only do three. I expected to barely break fifty today, but here I am. Aside from that, I got a callback for the show I auditioned for. How cool is that? On top of that I had an extremely productive day at work, completely refactoring a big chunk of code plus fixing something like fifteen bugs. Like I say, it's been a satisfying day. I also watched the first half of arguably the single best story of the Ninth Doctor era. So let's talk about that. Read more ...
